24 reviews, NONE ABOVE 3 STARS but Wot "trust" this website and the note is 4 stars.
YES, 4 stars but NO ONE has given more than 3...
Seriously? This is shi*... - Rated 1 out of 5by Rolf, 3 years agoPushing ads for some "protection service" it offers now. Sorry but F that. It was supposed to just show users the reputations of websites before you opened them. Now the extension itself feels as sketchy to me as the sites I'm trying to avoid.

posted 3 years agoHey Rolf,
WOT is a freemium service and most of our features are offered for free. Our premium package offers advanced features in addition to reputations of websites, such as Anti-phishing, Real-time protection and many more! If you do not wish try these features, you can always continue to use our basic functions and stay safe online. - Rated 1 out of 5by nomorespam, 3 years agoAs a long term user it is sad to see that this service has become so poor over the last 5-6yrs. Up to then it was reliable and had helpful & informative community. It is now very unreliable (inaccurate ratings, everything is broken and never repaired just changed for worse) & the community has disappeared off the forum. I think there are 2 forum members left from hundreds.
Developer here always say contact support.mywot.com, but no-one EVER replies, it's all just words to improve image.Developer response

It is important to mention that WOT is the same extension and service it always was, just with many new upgrades and improvements.
Please contact us directly at support.mywot.com with your feedback and we'll be glad to assist. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15037058, 3 years agoI removed the WOT after I paid the fee. This Add-on caused constant crashes of my computer and was slowing down Firefox dramatically. Highly not recommended add-on!!!!!! Do not install it!!!!!

----------------------------------------
The last update ruined everything...
I will not go into details, all early on you have one answer... everything is fine, everything is as it should be.
I decided to delete... besides, I got tired of being forced to upgrade to the premium version.
P.S.
You will lose all users at such a pace, all your innovations only repel from the once excellent expansion.Developer response

I've been using Wot for 10 years, it used to be amazingly good and now I've turned my back with the new update. I don't regret anything and I'm glad that I got away from it. The only way to see the reviews now is on the website. This addon has no use for me and I prefer to visit https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ or https://www.urlvoid.com/Developer response

WOT Services has partnerships with Mail.ru, Facebook, hpHosts, LegitScript, Panda Security, Phishtank, GlobalSign and TRUSTe.
In November 2016, a German state media investigation found that WOT Services had secretly collected personal user details and sold or licensed this information to unidentified third-party businesses and entities for data monetization purposes. This activity breached the privacy rules and guidelines set by several browsers. As a result, the browser add-on was involuntarily removed from Mozilla Firefox's add-on store, and voluntarily removed from other browsers' add-on/extension stores. WOT was eventually reinstated.
On November 1, 2016, German public broadcasting station NDR reported the results of an investigation by in-house journalists, showing that WOT collected, recorded, analyzed and sold user-related data to third parties. The data obtained was traceable to WOT and could be assigned to specific individuals, despite WOT's claim that user data was anonymized. The NDR investigative journalism report was based on freely available sample data, and revealed that sensitive private information of more than 50 users could be retrieved. The information included websites visited, account names and email addresses, potentially revealing user illnesses, sexual preferences and drug consumption. The journalists also reconstructed a media company's confidential revenue data, and details about an ongoing police investigation.
German media contacted WOT Services with the results of the investigation prior to publication of the report. WOT declined to comment on the findings.

WOT has taken the necessary steps to make sure we're aligned with all relevant privacy policies, including GDPR and CCPA and the product today is a completely different from the product this article realted to in 2016. If you have any additional concerns, please contact us directly at support.mywot.com and we'll be happy to answer any question. - Rated 1 out of 5by icstars, 3 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13434351, 4 years agoVery biased ratings on any site that is conservative. Liberal sites are highly rated. I was checking out a site that I am familiar with because WOT rated them as a suspect site and I wanted to see why. There were 8 ratings, 6 five star and 2 one star. The average rating was THREE STAR. How was that calculated? The site was rated Yellow based on two derogatory tags and when I tried to rate it I could not access the rating system to comment. This site has been hijacked and is untrustworthy.

posted 4 years agoHey,
In order to be transparent and enable our users to form an independent, unbiased opinion, websites that are of a political nature (on any side of the political map) are tagged on our Scorecard as “Opinions, religion, politics”.
In addition, both WOT users and our advanced algorithms review websites and scan them for malware or malicious activity in order to provide protection against viruses and privacy matters.
Since WOT is a platform powered by crowdsourcing, we enable various opinions and ratings - everyone’s opinion counts and is taken into consideration.
WOT does not interfere in the discourse and does not add, edit or remove comments unless they violate our community guidelines, which can be found here: https://www.mywot.com/guidelines.
We encourage you to engage in the discourse and share your comments and reviews with the community. - Rated 1 out of 5by 12bytes, 4 years agonothing but censorship disguised as something useful - absolute garbage
and if that isn't enough to dissuade you, read their "privacy" policy
to the developer:
users, as you well know, do not generally form unbiased opinions, something that can only be done through research and a lack of confirmation bias - thus, since this same user base is asked to vet content, WOT is useless at best ... of course i'm sure your shareholder(s) will disagreeDeveloper response

We are glad you are enjoying our service and we appreciate your support! - Rated 1 out of 5by WmRobt, 4 years agoToo many times I am trying to reset the password and throwing an error. That leads me to ask, what are the limits to the characters admitted, and are there edits excluding some characters? I found no help to reset a password within the web page, and the help on the site is no help at all. What is allowed and what is NOT allowed in a password?
Dear user, thanks for reaching out. Please try using only letters and numbers, with no signs or symbols. Let us know if that works!
Thank you. That's just what I needed. I suggest that you add this information to your on-site help.Developer response

"The NDR investigation discovered that while you have the WOT extension installed, extensive data collection is going on in the background. But WOT not only collects and records data on a per-user basis, it then analyzes and sells it on to third parties."
"The WOT Privacy Policy states that your IP, geographic location, device type, operating system, browser, the date and time, Web addresses, and overall browser usage are all collected, but that it is "non-identifiable." But NDR found that it was a simple task to link the anonymized data to individual users of the service. The data retrieved included:
Account name
Mail address
Travel plans
Illnesses
Sexual preference
Drug consumption
Confidential company information
Ongoing police investigations
Browser surfing activity including all sites visited" - Rated 1 out of 5by buggs, 4 years agoWho determines whether a site is dangerous? The public. With WOT, it appears to be compromised of users that report anyone or any site that doesn't agree with their politics or worldview. That includes alternative/integrative medicine, or similarly. It isn't about safety with privacy or viruses. Rather than honor and respect free speech, this is sadly a program that people have used to report anything that they disagree with as threats. It's very unfortunate as this could be a terrific program that responsibly warns about serious threats such as privacy concerns, phishing, viruses, etc. Unfortunately, it isn't.

Immediately after publishing ( graphic design), my pages were marked with red WOT sign for dangerous attacking page. Im writting this comment because nobody answered my complaints even. After long years Im uninstaling WOT. WOT became absolutely useles and harmful.

posted 4 years agoThank you for sharing this issue with us and we’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Due to numerous phishing and fraud attempts made in the past by using the Wixsite.com domain, the WOT community categorized it as dangerous.
Our algorithm can separate between subdomains only after getting a couple of good/bad reviews. We recommend you ask the community to re-evaluate your domain by submitting a request on our forum via "Site Evaluations" https://forum.mywot.com/site-evaluations-f4/ - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15596449, 4 years ago
